Benefits of Exercising: You won’t believe the invigorated sense of well-being!

I was out of shape, getting older and heavier by the minute and exhausted most of the time, until I read the book Younger Next Year. (the pink one for women).
It is written by Chris Crowley and Dr. Henry S. Lodge. They discuss how the body operates and the significance of so many things we eat, how we think and what we do.

As soon as I was finished reading it, I packaged it up and mailed it to my sister and her husband to give them the same chance to change their thinking that occurred for me.

It suggests exercising 6 days a week and if you’re not going to do that, it’s important that there not be a two day stretch without some deliberate activity. Now I wasn’t a health nut, or an exercise freak; getting off the couch was exercise as far as I was concerned but boy have I changed my tune since reading this book.

It tells us that we do not need to fall into the trap of believing that because we are at a certain age we should look, feel and act old. Don’t buy this myth. We can all but turn back the hands of time (at least internally), if we exercise, drink the recommended glasses of water and eat properly.

Water has always been a mystery to me, but finally, in this book – I got it. We have cells which deplete inside us, things get old and need to be removed. Aha, water does this job. I just thought we got thirsty. Now I even realize when my calves feel fatigued, it’s because I’m depleted in water. We don’t have that much fluid in us so we need to keep replenishing it.

So, I pulled out my bike, helmet and running shoes, have been cycling regularly and totally loving it, got a membership at the local community centre and a personal training session and go to Aquafit now. It was painful at first, but they say, do it with the thought in mind that it might hurt now, but it won’t last, it’ll get better, just keep at it. Keeping in mind that everyone’s level of beginner is different, take it slow at first, but keep at it.

Seriously, my energy level has sky-rocketed, I’ve dropped excess weight, my clothes feel looser, I feel Younger this year, I didn’t have to wait until next year, I know I look better and smile more, have a better outlook on life and feel much more positive.
These two men have made a significant difference in my life.

So, a bit cliché, but “Let’s hear it for the boys.”!!!
